Diverse cycling experiences to discover

Welcome to France! A country that has almost no equal for active holidays. Culture, priceless historical treasures and unique landscapes compete for your attention. Stand on top of the cliffs of Normandy, explore the pretty villages of Alsace, see countless castles along the Loire, visit winegrowing vineyards in Burgundy and experience the buzz of the Ile de France.

Why not head to the south of France to discover the beaches along the Cote d’Azur, explore the fragrant countryside of Provence and spend time on the coast with your bike, kayak or on foot? There are so many wonderful sides of France to take in that deciding where to go is one the most difficult active holiday choices you’ll make.

Focus on France

Discover some of France's most famous, picturesque and impressive regions for cycling and walking holidays.

Diverse regions

France has many enchanting regions such as the Pyrenees, the Auvergne, and Alsace that will appeal to cycling and walking holiday enthusiasts. There are dreamlike landscapes, countless wine-growing regions, differences in climate between north and south, and fascinating cities with excellent cycling infrastructure that connect up with the many cycle routes that traverse the country.

Provence

The sweet smell of the lavender flower will be an ever-present scent during your active holiday in Provence. In addition to lavender fields, you’ll see the pretty gardens, walk or cycle next to beaches and be able to take time to explore the cities of Orange, Arles, Aix-en-Provence, and Avignon. Provence also means that you can combine a relaxing summer holiday by the sea with a more active holiday inland.

Our selection of cycling holidays in Provence passes through some of the most beautiful parts of the region. After cycling during the day, you’ll also be able to look forward to strolling around or enjoying a glass of wine after a day on your bike.

Alsace

Alsace is known as being a very colourful region due to its brightly coloured timber-framed architecture. Alsace has long been coveted by both France and Germany and the border has shifted many times over the years. The beautiful cycling region of Alsace has many key elements of both countries, and this influence is seen in the local architecture, green countryside and pretty villages.

Loire

The Loire Valley is one of the most important rivers in France and an important one for cyclists who follow the 800 km La Loire à Vélo. On the route, you will see the famous chateaux, picturesque towns and a cycle path that goes directly through the ‘Garden of France’.
