Every day, you'll be greeted by a new and impressive mountain landscape, featuring a different mountain range. Whether it's the Steinerne Meer with the rugged peaks of the Leoganger and Loferer mountains or the two peaks of the Pinzgauer mountains, this hike offers breathtaking views of Austria's highest peaks. Additionally, you can savour the culinary delights of Pinzgau during this week-long hiking experience in the stunning Salzburger Land region. Don't miss the chance to explore the idyllic Pillersee valley in Tyrol.

Throughout the week, you'll be treated to diverse mountain backdrops, ranging from the Steinernen Meer to the Leogang and Lofer mountains, the Kitzbühel Alps, and the Pinzgau meadows and mountains. The highlight of this hiking week is the panoramic view of over 30 mountains exceeding 3000 metres in altitude, including the "König Glockner," the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, High and Low Tauern, and the Bavarian Alps. To keep your energy levels up, you'll also enjoy delicious local delicacies such as Pinzgau 'Bladln,' 'Nidai,' and 'Buchteln.'

Details about the mountain hike over the Kitzbüheler Alps

The Loferer Steinberge, the Pinzgauer Grasberge, and the Steinerne Meer—there are hardly more mountains on this tour. However, your efforts will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramas, and the well-deserved stops in rustic huts will make it all worthwhile.

Highlights of the Kitzbüheler Alps walking holiday at a glance:

  • Zell am See and Saalbach holiday towns: Via the Lichtenberg Castle you reach the historic town of Saalfelden.

  • Pillerseetal in the Steinbergen & Kitzbühel Alps: A lonely pass takes you between the Leogang and Loferer Steinberge mountains to Tyrol.

  • Views of Austria’s highest peaks: The ‘King of the Mountains’, the Großglockner, the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, the Hohe and Niedere Tauern and the Bavarian Alps.

In the footsteps of the pilgrims, you walk across meadows and through a fantastic raised moor area to the rocky peaks of the "Stone Sea". Via scenic mountain paths to the Steinalm, a sunny high meadow with a hut to stop for a while. The descent is via a path that leads to the impressive chapel Einsiedelei. You enter the historic town of Saalfelden via the knight's castle of Lichtenberg.

Enjoy a rest day in the 'sports region', take advantage of one of the advantages of your 'Joker-Card' or take a relaxing walk to the Lindlingalm, where everything revolves around the wood in the wood park. Walk in a circle along the Saalalm to the valley and from there up towards Forsthofalm. There you should not miss a glass of homemade buttermilk with a panoramic view of the Saalachtal.
